The victory of over , a three-term senator and former vice presidential candidate, was a vivid demonstration of how the Iraq war is buffeting American politics and of the deep hostility toward President Bush among Democrats. It also suggested there are stiff anti-status-quo winds blowing across the political landscape as the fall elections approach.

What the fuck took so long? Well, let’s keep our fingers crossed that this really does portend for some slightly better times. (I say slightly better because it will take eons to undo the damage the Bush administration managed to cause in the last six years, with plenty of time to come to inflict even more.)
