Trucks and SUVs and Mini Vans - Oh My!
For those of you who drive on a daily basis, you are very brave. Between the trucks, the SUVs, and the mini vans that I can't see around to the speeding maniacs (which admittedly includes me as I zip down the road at a brisk 80 mph in a 55 mph zone), driving practically gives me a heart attack every few miles. For the rest of the day, I'm very glad that I'll be running my errands on the subway. Even though non-discounted rides are $2 a pop, that sure beats $3.47 per gallon in gas. (OK, it sort of doesn't, but a monthly public transit pass with unlimited rides for $72 definitely kicks the ass of a month's worth of gas.)

You should come ride around with me in the crappy eBay truck. I'm embracing my inner old farmer now, and driving as slow as I want. My very favorite speed is 35 mph, and on dirt roads it's more like 20. I never, ever speed. There's no place I ever need to get to so bad that I'm willing to stress myself out driving there.
Plus, you get the passive-aggressive thrill of pissing off the Hummers and Lexus SUV crowd. :-)
I don't miss driving one bit.
Be glad, Very Very glad, that your gas isn't £1.02 per litre (thats around £5 or $10 per gallon)!!! That's why my motorcycle is getting a lot more use these days
