Addictions come in many forms, and mine is eggs. I eat several eggs a week, alternating the real deal for EggBeaters every few times so that my cholesterol doesn't shoot through the roof. Allow me a Forrest Gump moment here. I like eggs over easy, poached, scrambled, omelets, sunny side up, fried, hard boiled, and soft boiled. Actually, I don't even know the difference between fried and sunny side up, but they both taste good.
My problem, then, is actually cooking eggs. Yes, I realize that eggs are about the easiest things to cook in the entire world (except for maybe asparagus, which I made last night on our George Foreman Grill with olive oil, salt, and pepper), but I hate cooking. I don't care how "easy" it is, somehow I always make a mess and I despise cleaning.
A few weeks ago, I was in Bed, Bath, and Beyond (we now have everything except Target and Ikea in Manhattan, I swear) and I saw the answer to prayers that I didn't know I had:
Oh, yeah! I just crack my little eggies in the container, nuke 'em, and voila! - delicious, perfectly formed eggs that fit right into an English muffin with very little mess. Even I can handle washing a piece of plastic.Whoever invented this, you are my hero.

Hey I had one of those when I lived in Hoboken! It does work well. Hmmm...maybe I see if I still have it to make eggs for the boys.
I don't like eggs OR asparagus.
It's a good thing I don't cook for you then, Des, as you might starve to death. I seem to be incapable of preparing much else. We'll just have to keep eating out when we meet up. :)
is washing a pan any more work than that plastic thing? and is the plastic thing equally as nonstick as a good pan? b/c i tend to just rinse my pan out while its still hot and don't even bother w/ soap most of the time. just wondering.
Hey Dr. P! It is easier to wash because my pans were burned and had all manner of problems, only in part thanks to my bad cooking. And due to the miracle of plastic and chemicals, the thing is non-stick. Very delightful.
I love asparagus and eggs. Sometimes together, even. I think I would like your thing, because I LOVE a whole wheat english muffin with a scrambled egg and Morningstar veggie patty. It's as close as you can get to a healthy egg mcmuffin. Of course, I have a tupperware that's about the right size, so I just nuke my egg beaters in that.
Does the microwaved egg taste as good? If so, I'm investing in a toaster.
ah yes, i understand the burnt pan problem. sounds like my badly uncared for wok.
